Following the great success of StudentVoice National Conference 2014, we are hosting a second Conference this Autumn. This will elect a new National Executive, host a range of workshops, and launch our National Campaign.
StudentVoice is not like other organisations though. We are genuinely student-led in a way that most organisations can only dream of.
For this reason, we are hosting a Conference Planning session open to all StudentVoice members (students between the ages of 11 and 18). This will make all the key decisions about what will happen at the Conference.
Language learning faces a ‘difficult climate’ in schools. A study of over 1200 schools found that despite a slight increase in the amount of students studying Spanish at GCSE level and above, there has been a general decrease in the teaching and learning of other languages. Teachers claim that the current examination methods are a hindrance to language learning in schools as it simply is not fit for purpose.
We are excited to announce the members of our new Management Committee. These volunteers will support the elected National Executive of students and ensure that the organisation is able to do what its student members want.
We received plenty of exceptional applications so were faced with the difficult task of narrowing them down to just six committee members. These are: Adam Wilson, Charles Barry, Deborah Hermanns, Derry Hannam, Sally Brown and Suvi Rehell.
Our partner, Phoenix Education Trust, is looking for a new Managing Director! We want an inspirational and enthusiastic leader to help us bring our future plans to life.
The candidate must be passionate about democratic education. They should also have experience in education, the voluntary sector, or social enterprise. We are looking for someone who likes to take on a challenge, and who is prepared to become involved on every level.
StudentVoice is looking for volunteers to join its new Management Committee. The Committee will play an important role in helping the organisation to reach its goals. This is an exciting opportunity to become involved in the running of StudentVoice, so make sure you apply!
The Committee's main duty will be to oversee the management of the organisation. This involves working with the elected student leaders of StudentVoice, the National Executive. There will be four Management Committee meetings per year.
